Establishment and Inauguration
The University Center of the Resistance Fighter Sheikh Amoud Ben Mokhtar was established by Presidential Decree No. 12/303, issued on August 4, 2012, corresponding to Ramadan 16, 1433 AH. The central library was inaugurated in March 2015. It occupies an area of 507.12 m², with a reading room of 178.42 m². The University Center built, financed, and manages the library to offer advanced library and information services to the university community, in alignment with the Center’s needs. The central library is considered the backbone of the university, as a modern and well-developed library is essential for the success of the educational and research process. The library facilitates access to its resources and supports scientific research by providing up-to-date, advanced, and rapid information, thereby contributing to the advancement of scientific progress.
Library's Role in Research & Archiving
Since its inception, the automated system has been generalized to all library departments to carry out various standard documentation chain functions such as cataloging, classification, lending, and search. The library includes a storage area for books, a reading room, and internet access. It has a section for technical procedures and holds 5,300 titles across various disciplines, distributed as follows:

Functions and Duties
The central library consists of three main departments: Bibliographic Research Department
  • Registration in the National Online Documentation System (SNDL).
  • Electronic deposit of theses, scientific articles, and all forms of university scientific production (DSpace).
  • Management of scientific theses (PNST).
  • Management of the standardized library system (Syngeb).
  • Assisting professors and students in their bibliographic research.
  • Digitizing intellectual resources such as manuscripts and rare books.
Guidance Department
  • Receiving and guiding beneficiaries and assisting them in finding required documents.
  • Organizing books according to the classification system used (Dewey Decimal Classification).
  • Providing a suitable environment for research and reading inside the hall.
  • Helping students conduct research through the online catalog.
  • Exceptional lending of documents with limited copies.
  • Monitoring document cleaning and ensuring their organization on shelves.
Acquisition and Processing Department
  • Setting conditions for selecting titles according to the conditions guide and budget share.
  • Preparing and organizing lists of titles by specialty and sending them to faculty deans to select the required titles.
  • Reviewing approved lists compared to the library system (Syngeb) to avoid duplication.
  • Receiving the documentary stock and verifying its compliance with the conditions manual.
  • Classifying, indexing books, and distributing them according to the international classification system (Dewey Decimal).

The central library relies on a technical system that meets students’ needs and keeps up with modern developments in libraries, within the national policy for establishing the unified national catalog (Syngeb). System Services:
  • Collection management: orders, exchange subscriptions.
  • Inventory list management.
  • Indexing all types of documents (theses, books, periodicals).
  • Multi-criteria search capability (keywords, authors, subject headings, year).
  • Access to the catalog via local network or the internet.
